Learnin' How To Make Them Substances


Hey y'alls. I have been spending some time digging into Allegorithmic's Substance Designer. Here are my results thus far. Its a pretty sweet program. It's all node based and what you see here is a result of absolutely no sculpting or modeling. This is all done using noises, masks and blends. I'll keep updating.

After baking the high poly down, I created a texture cube and brought it into Unreal Engine 4. From there I used a tiling moss texture I had on hand and created a vertex blend material driven by a height map to achieve the results.

Thulsa Doom Sketch


Take a several hour break. Drink some beers (enjoy life), spend 15 more minutes and be amazed at all the small details you missed. I'm sure there is a rinse and repeat I could throw in there but I'm just looking to sketch and move on. I'm gonna take what I have and refine. Then on to the next thing.
